New Documentary Explores the World of MS

023trailerJason Dasilva knows a thing or two about documentaries. With over 10 years experience in film, he has seen his work grace the screens of Sundance and Tribeca.

And when diagnosed over three years ago with Primary-progressive Multiple Sclerosis he began one of the most personal projects to date.

As an exercise to understanding this new diagnosis, Dasilva began shooting his film When I Walk in 2007, back when the young man needed only a cane to get around. His film follows his progression and his look into research, therapies and how this change will affect his daily life.

Although not released until 2010, this film is one to watch. Check out his trailer and find more at his site When I Walk > this should be a great resource for those diagnosed, and the families and friends struggling to understand this disease.

Dasilva:

Film-making is what I do. Film-making is how I express who I am. This documentary, while continuing to observe the social tensions, medical research and politics of MS, has finally become an open exploration of how I overcome my feelings of being a “sitting duck” and continue to be Jason Dasilva within myself, my love-relationship, my friends and family, my work and society as a whole.
